About BALANCE EnviTec Bio-LNG GmbH

Forward-thinking, cooperative and competent – as a new reliable partner in the field of green fuels, BALANCE EnviTec Bio-LNG is driving change in the transport sector.

This new joint venture between EnviTec Biogas AG and BALANCE Erneuerbare Energien GmbH combines the activities of two of Germany’s leading biogas producers in the field of bio-LNG (liquefied natural gas) and offers customers everything from biogas facilities to green fuel from a single source.

We liquefy biomethane in our own plants to produce bio-LNG for use in the transport sector, thus contributing to significant reductions in CO2 emissions in the transport sector. By producing advanced fuels, we are opening up a new, lucrative field not only for ourselves, but also for our customers. With an innovative marketing concept, we also offer smaller plant operators the opportunity to participate in the production of bio-LNG. We can either provide capacity at our liquefaction plant so that our customers can sell bio-LNG themselves, or we offer to purchase biomethane.

The transport sector must become more environment-friendly, while at the same time remaining profitable. With our bio-LNG, we can do both. Our ambition is to contribute to a significant CO2 reduction in the transport sector. With state-of-the-art technology, we are making a sustainable contribution to decarbonisation of up to 100 % compared to fossil fuels, thereby setting new standards in terms of climate protection.

Bio-LNG is a sustainable version of LNG, which is produced from biomethane. By generating bio-LNG from renewable resources, agricultural or industrial waste, we contribute to creating a sustainable circular economy.

Bio-LNG is used primarily in truck transport, but can also be used to power buses and to some extent also in shipping. By using bio-LNG, an LNG truck travels CO2-neutrally.

Bio-LNG has the same properties as fossil-based LNG and can therefore be used in any combination with the latter in existing LNG trucks. Consequently, fleet operators retain all the benefits in terms of performance, fuel consumption and noise levels that they have come to expect from LNG trucks – both now and in the future. This is because the bio-LNG admixture can easily be increased in step with the sustainability efforts of the respective company over time.
